Along West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz is a fence protecting the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. At a break in the fence is a popular access route to the waves of Steamer Lane. At this break, there are several names of surfers carved into the fence. Memorial tributes read "RIP: Dennis Young", "RIP Carl", "RIP Blacky", "Donald Salter", "Good Ol Bubs RIP" and many more. There are flower and T-Shirt tributes too.
