A beautiful rose garden in the grounds of Frimley Park has recently been upgraded with the addition of a new pavillion and paved pathway. The rose beds contain over 5000 roses of all types and all colours, filling the air with perfume.

On Lyndhurst Road and Frimley Road in Hastings, Frimley Park has a well-known rose garden with more than 5,500 roses.
Frimley Park was given to the people of Hastings by the Williams family in 1951, and was formerly the grounds for the family's homestead which burned down in 1950. The Hastings Rose Society offered to provide roses if the Council would create a rose garden and a design based on Kew Gardens was constructed in 1965. The Rose Garden was officially opened on 26th November 1967.
Now days it is a beautiful park with some extremely old and large tree specimens. A paved pathway leads through to the large rose garden with rose beds placed around the newly built central pavillion. There are seats placed here, to just sit and enjoy the view of the many coloured blooms and breathe the perfumed scent that surrounds the garden.
Hastings District Council and the Hastings Rose Society host an annual Rose Sunday event at Frimley Park in November.
The popular event attracts families and gardening enthusiasts from around the district.
Visitors bring a picnic and relax on the lawn, while a jazz band plays in the background. Visitors can talk with Rose Society members and industry professionals about the thousands of rose varieties on show at the park, and how to maintain their own roses. Look on the internet for dates each year.
