Guide Stoops are old milestones made from stone. They were decreed by Parliament in the early 1700s in order to guide travellers across the bleak and featureless parts of England.

On the other side of this old track is a new Companion Stone. This is commissioned by Arts in the Peak and is a modern sculpture made to celebrate the 300 year old Guide Stoops.

The Guide Stoop points the way ahead and the Companion Stone guides you in other ways.

We found them both thanks to a geocache by cats-eyes.
