This plaque tells us this tree is dedicated to William Allen Wright (1844-1929), Comptroller-General of Georgia for fifty years. It is located in back of the Georgia State Capitol Building in Atlanta, Georgia.

As one faces the back of the building, to the right of the American Legions "Flame of Freedom" is a magnolia tree with a dedication plaque at its base. This is the Capitol Avenue SW side of the Capitol grounds. It is interesting to note this was placed only a few months after his death.

"William Ambrose Wright (January 18, 1844 – September 13, 1929) was a soldier in the Army of the Confederate States of America, Comptroller General & Insurance Commissioner, 1879–1929, Lawyer, Lieutenant, Confederate States of America, and a Statesman.

Born at Louisville, Georgia, he was honored for 50 years of service to the State as Comptroller General (The official responsible for Georgia's accounting activities)."
