The cathedral of Orvieto is quite famous and has a very nice rose window. The whole cathedral is worth a visit. The very detailed stonemasonry on this cathedral shows the improtance of this small city in former times.

Orvieto, a city with about 23000 inhabitants has a very nice looking cathedral. The old town with the cathedral was build on a stony hill.It was once the popal residence for a short period.

The frontside of the cathedral has a lot of very detailed stonemasonry art. In the center is a big, richly decorated rose window.

The rose window was made between 1354 and 1380 by Andrea di Cione di Arcangelo (c. 1308 – August 25, 1368), better known as Orcagna.

Enjoy it and don't miss to see the interior of the cathedral.
