The island of Pag has a very meager and stony surface. During summer it's quite hot on this island, nearly no place to sit in the shade of a tree. It's because there are no trees anymore, just a small number of herbs, often sage. It must have been a green island long ago, before the venetian shipbuilders cut all the trees for building ships. The good soil was spoild and blown away by rain and wind. Then thousands of sheep destroyed the rest of the soil and an forbidding, stony island remained.

The beach is reachable via the little village of Metajna. Just drive the road as long as possible and use the parking areas. It's a public beach (no fees in 2012).

It's not allowed to drive directly to the beach, the parking is about 500 meters from the beach.

There are only two small bars close to the beach (open during the season). Toilets only at the bars.

The water is quite fine (as usual on the croatian coast)and a good place for snorkeling.

Most people wear bathing-clothes, a few nudists sometimes.Do not forget a parasol (you will need it!).
