This is the second anchor placed on this location. It is a gift from Stena Jern & Metal given to the city of Randers in 2008.
Going back to the 60's a traditional ceremony has taken place here every year on th 24th of december in memory of those men of the sea that died during WWII. The official name of the anchor is Mindeankeret which mean The Memorial Anchor.
The first and original anchor was found on the bottom of Kattegat near Anholt. Why there was a change of anchor in this memorial place is unknown.
