Many spots along the Great River Road from Alton northwest to Elsah, Grafton and beyond are well known as prime targets to find American Pelicans and Bald Eagles. The road has been constructed to allow pulloffs and is often full of photographers and ornithology fans for the later months of winter.
This location provides prime viewing at the Grafton lighthouse.
