Salmo is home to many stone murals celebrating the history and natural beauty of the area.

The laundromat features a larger than life Grizzly Bear. Grizzly Bears are very common in this area and can often be seen in the wild.

The grizzly bear, one of the strongest and most impressive mammals in North America, is a symbol of Canadian wilderness. The grizzly is able to run at speeds of 45 kilometres/hour and can weigh 100-400 kilograms (220-880 pounds).

This stone mural was completed in November 1990. It was constructed by the Kootenay Stone Masonry Institute.
