DESCRIBED BY INTERNATIONAL BOUNDARY COMMISSION 1932 (JGH)
THIS MONUMENT IS AN ORNAMENTAL CONCRETE OBELISK SET IN A PLAIN
CONCRETE BASE. THE SURFACE OF THE OBELISK OR SHAFT IS FINISHED IN
LIGHT - COLORED GRANULAR QUARTZ AGGREGATE, WASHED FREE OF CEMENT SO
THAT THE COLOR AND TEXTURE OF THE COARSE GRANULAR AGGREGATE SHOWS
CLEAN. THE SHAFT IS 6 FEET 6 INCHES IN LENGTH AND PROJECTS 5 TO
5-1/2 FEET ABOVE THE BASE. IT IS 14 INCHES SQUARE AT THE BASE AND
TAPERS TO A CROSS - SECTION OF 8 INCHES SQUARE AT THE TOP, AND IS
CAPPED BY A PYRAMID 4 INCHES IN HEIGHT. IT IS REINFORCED WITH FOUR
1/2 - INCH STEEL RODS EXTENDING THROUGHOUT ITS LENGTH. THE BASE OF
THE MONUMENT IS 3 FEET 4 INCHES SQUARE. THE TOP SURFACE OF THE BASE
SLOPES AWAY FROM THE SHAFT UNIFORMLY ON EACH SIDE 4 INCHES TO THE
FOOT. THE BASE PROJECTS ABOUT 4 INCHES ABOVE THE SURROUNDING GROUND
SURFACE AND EXTENDS DOWN TO A FIRM FOUNDATION NOT LESS THAN 3 FEET 6
INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE UNLESS SOLID ROCK FORMATION IS
ENCOUNTERED AT A LESSER DEPTH. THE BASE IS CONSTRUCTED OF 1--2--4
CONCRETE.
