The controversy at this time is in a section of the town called Tunnel City. Unimin Corporation will be strip mining for sand. There are no regulations in place to deal with Strip mining for sand in the town of Greenfield. Actually it is called hydraulic fracturing of the rock, sandstone. Obtaining the sand requires removing the top layer of earth over a sandstone deposit and using heavy equipment and large amounts of water to produce the fine grains of sand. The same process used in Texas to produce oil and gas from shale rock. According to some environmentalists and residents of affected areas, sand mining poses a threat to air and water quality.

The building is of woodframe construction with a gray vinyl siding.
