A cornerstone on this striking brick building identifies the church as “Kosciol St. Jana Chrz,” which translates from Polish as “St. John the Baptist Church.” The Polish immigrant congregation first organized in 1894, and this Gothic Revival brick building was constructed in 1921. Known also as the Polish Catholic Church in years past, the current parish has taken the name “Holy Spirit Church” and includes the Marquette Catholic School and new office buildings. The historical church is located on 3rd Street.
