Description of Memorial:
This is an unusual monument in many respects. It honors wounded veterans and has a beautiful colored sculpture of a Purple Heart. The red granite of the monument is expressly used symbolically. The inscription is actually a prayer for peace. Located in a very well done Court of Honor. It honors the Merchant Marines as well as the armed forces.
