Driving on IH-24W from Nashville, TN to Evansville, IN, I passes over the Tennessee/Kentucky state line. In less than a mile past the KY state line, I see signs for a Kentucky Visitor's Center at a rest area and decide to pull in to look at the local history and pick up some maps or informational bulletins. The place was HUGE for a rest area. The grounds has manicured lawns and trimmed trees offering cool shade during the heat of summer. There were also two gazebos built on the right and left side of the main Visitor's Center/rest area facilities building. The place looked very well taken care of and had a very large truck parking area behind the building. Rest rooms were sparkling clean and big.
The two gazebos were mirror images. I chose to waymark the one on the left of the Visitor's Center, when facing the center. It is all metal framing with metal roof and metal decorative railing around the eight sides. Complementary metal trim is above the rails, along the roof line. The gazebo rests on a concrete slab and has one large metal picnic table bolted to the slab in the center area of the gazebo.
There was one geocache at this rest area at the time this waymark was posted.
