The church of St George contains two memorials to those who fell in the Great War from the local, private schools. There is also a memorial to those from the village who fell in both World wars and two further memorials to individuals.

One memorial plaque commemorates Old Malthouse Boys who fell in the Great War. The inscription reads:

'To the Glory of God
and to the dear and gallant memory of
2nd Lieut. J.F. Collins M.G.C.
Lieut. W.R. Hancock Devon Regt.
2nd Lieut. D.G.W. Hewitt V.C. Hants Regt.
Lieut. R.C. Norton R.H.A.
2nd Lieut. C.G. Morse R.A.F.
Lieut. S.W. Shippard L.N. Lancs Regt.

Old Malthouse Boys who fell in action in the Great War 1914-1919.
"They shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it"
"They climbed the steep ascent of Heaven
Through peril, toil, and pain:
O God, to us may grace be given
To follow in their train."

Erected with proud and thankful hearts by Reginald and Kathleen Corbett.'


The second memorial is dedicated to the Durnford Boys and reads:

'To the Glory of God & in proud & grateful memory
of those Durnford Boys and Masters who very
gladly laid down their lives for King & Country
1914-1919

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori

This window was given by Thomas & Ellinor Pellatt.'

There are two further plaques of names in the tower which are included in the gallery.

Another two memorials are dedicated to individual men. One displays a wooden relief figure of a man riding into battle. They read:

'In loving memory of
Sheffield Digby Kissane Rogers
Lieut Royal Fusiliers
Killed at Ypres
June 14th 1915.'

'In memory of
John Ainscow Dugdale
Captain
The Norfolk Regiment
1893 - 1919.
Presented by his brother.'
