Per the local library website (secondary link below), we learn:
"Opened March 18, 1909, the Indian Orchard Library was built with a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. This Classical Revival Style building was designed by local architect John Donahue and built by local craftsmen."
Another website, states that in 1905, "Andrew Carnegie gave $260,000 to Springfield to build a central library and three branches." and then in 1909, The Indian Orchard Branch library opened on March 18." It also provides a historical post card, which shows the front portion is the original building with expansion out behind, the two chimneys were removed, and the inscription above the entrance has been changed.
Library hours are very limited to:
Monday: 10 am - 5 pm
Wednesday: 1 pm - 8 pm
Saturday: 11 am - 3 pm
