The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, is at Coity. The current building was completed by the early 14th century, although it is known that worship was being conducted on this site from the earliest of Norman times.

The church follows a typical cruciform design, common to Norman churches of its age. It sits in the shadow of Coity Castle, an important Norman stronghold. The church has a chancel that is almost as long as the nave.
