This metal rod (designated 906 3020 BASE) is located in a capped and enclosed tube near the U.S. Coast Guard base in Buffalo, New York. The enclosure is stamped "BASE" and is next to an orange carsonite witness post indicating the location of the rod.

In addition, the rod is located approximatly 2 feet from a black metal fence outside of the base (so you do not need to pass any gates, etc. to locate the rod).
