The Elgin TX Veteran's Memorial Park was created in 1930 in downtown Elgin, near the crossing of the Southern Pacific Railroad and the Houston and Texas Central Railroad.
At the time, this area was the center of all commercial and retail life in Elgin.
Veteran's Memorial park features this static display of artillery, a gazebo, flagpoles, and some landscaping. Some decades later, the engraved stone memorial plaque was added to identify the gun as a specific WWI veteran memorial.
