Neptune was discovered in 1846 by Johann Gottfried Galle
and Heinrich Louis d'Arrest. It is smaller than planet Uranus
and comprised of gases. It is 2,800 million miles from the sun; 4,500 million kilometers.
Voyager 2 space probe went by in 1989. Neptune was found to have eight moons, including Triton and Nereid. Triton is larger than Pluto.
