"Die Tischofer Höhle ist eine Höhle im Kaisertal des Kaisergebirges. Als Versammlungsort und Waffenversteck für aufständische Einheimische erlangte sie während den Napoleonischen Kriegen besondere lokale Bedeutung. Die ungefähr 40 m lange und am Eingang etwa 8,5 m hohe Höhle wurde in der Steinzeit von Bären und anderen Raubtieren als Unterkunft benutzt, wie ausgegrabene Knochenreste belegen. Die Funde von Höhlenbärenknochen sowie Werkzeugspitzen aus Knochen, darunter eine Lautscher Spitze, die heute im Heimatmuseum auf der Festung Kufstein aufbewahrt werden, können auf ein Alter von etwa 27.000 - 28.000 Jahren datiert werden. Damit stellt die Tischofer Höhle die bislang älteste, nachgewiesene Fundstelle menschlicher Erzeugnisse in Tirol dar.
Menschliche Skelette und Werkzeugfunde lassen vermuten, dass die Höhle in der Bronzezeit als Kupferschmiede und Gießerei gedient hat.
Die Tischofer Höhle kann vom Kaiseraufstieg im Kaisertal über einen mit einem Drahtgeländer gesicherten Steig zu Fuß erreicht werden. Sie ist im Tiroler Höhlenkataster mit der Nummer 1312/001 verzeichnet." - Quelle: Wikipedia
