The photographs are taken from about fifteen metres on each side of the bridge with the main photo being taken from the north. There are footpaths leading under the bridge so there are many points from which photos can safely be taken.

The north side of the bridge, painted red, shows the modern face of the bridge. The southern side, painted black and stone colours, with rivets a plenty, shows the older and possibly original construction.
