"Das Gardaland in Castelnuovo del Garda bei Peschiera del Garda am Gardasee in der Region Venetien ist mit 2,8 Millionen Besuchern im Jahr 2010 der größte Freizeitpark in Italien.
Der Park wurde 1975 eröffnet und besitzt heute über 32 Fahrgeschäfte und neun Shows auf ca. 26 Hektar. Auch wenn die Aufteilung in Themenbereiche schwerfällt, kann man das Gardaland zur Gattung der Themenparks zählen, da jede Attraktion für sich thematisiert ist. Hauptanziehungspunkte im Park sind neben den Achterbahnen die Wasserattraktionen, Themenfahrten und Italiens größtes Delfinarium mit einer dazugehörigen Delfin- und Seehundshow.
Durch das mit vier Sternen bewertete „Gardaland Hotel Resort“ wurde 2004 eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit mit 247 Zimmern in direkter Nachbarschaft des Parks geschaffen. 2005 wurde der Park in einer vom Wirtschaftsmagazin Forbes veröffentlichten Studie weltweit auf den 5. Platz der erfolgreichsten Vergnügungsparks gesetzt.
Seit 2006 bietet das neu erbaute „Gardaland Theater“ mit einem Zusammenschnitt der großen amerikanischen Musicals für ca. 2.500 Parkbesucher Platz. In den Sommermonaten bleibt der Park bis 23 Uhr geöffnet und den Besuchern werden Lichterumzüge, Licht- und Lasershows sowie einmal wöchentlich ein Feuerwerk geboten.

Im Oktober 2006 wurden 90,8 % des Gardalands für ca. 500 Millionen Euro von der Blackstone Group übernommen und in die Merlin Entertainments Group integriert.
Bei Mailand wurde 2007 der Wasserpark „Aquatica by Gardaland“ eröffnet, der seit 2008 „Gardaland Waterpark“ heißt. 2008 wurde mit einem Sea Life Centre der dritte Park des Resorts eröffnet. Weiterhin öffnete in der Saison 2008 eine neue Achterbahn im Park, eine 1030 Meter lange Minenachterbahn von Vekoma mit Namen Mammut mit dem Thema „Gletscher“.
