The animal hoofprints in the sidewalk outside the WMWR Visitor's Center appear to be bison and either elk or dear. The prints are too neatly in a row to be there accidentally, so I think the staff made the prints as an educational tool for visitors.

Bison roam freely at the WMWR, so please be careful while driving in the area since they will cross the road in front of you (and sometimes cause a traffic jam when they decide to stay in the road). We have also seen Longhorn Cattle walk down the road as if that was normal for them. You will find an abundance of deer and other wildlife in the area while you hike and walk around the lakes.

There is no charge to visit the area. The Visitor's Center has interpretive displays, a movie theater, gift shop, and very knowledgeable staff to help you plan your day.
