Luther Cemetery is located on N. Peebly Road, one-half mile north of Route 66 on the northwest side of Luther. This cemetery contains about 1400 burials and is well maintained.
This headstone is a large gray standing marker, showing Martha and her husband Alvin's engravings. She and Alvin were married in 1927. He passed away in 1986.
Martha Ann Ferrell was born January 14, 1906 and passed away May 7, 2007.
** Martha was a toddler of 21 months when Oklahoma became a state in November of 1907.
** She was seven years old when Cracker Jacks first put a prize in the box.
** When Martha was 14, a very important rule was established when the Post Office declared that children could not be sent by Parcel Post.
** Martha was 24 when the first nudist colony was opened, but I doubt that affected her life much.
** She saw the launching of Parker Brothers Monopoly when she was 29.
** The musical "Annie Get Your Gun" debuted in NYC when Martha was 40.
** She was 66 when the Watergate scandal occurred.
** Apple began marketing the iPone the year Martha died - 2007.
