The photo is taken from a position approximately 40 metres to the north of the bridge from a traffic island in the middle of the road.

The bridge is held aloft by brick and stonework on both the south west and north east sides of Borough High Street. The bridge still carries rail traffic between Waterloo Station and London Bridge as well as between London Bridge and Cannon Street Stations.

The bridge is of steel girder construction.
