JUDr. Milada Horáková was an active politician, engaged in woman rights activities in pre-war Czechoslovakia, then in the resistance movement during the Nazi occupation and she was imprisoned in Terezin concentration camp. After the war she became a deputy of Czechoslovak Parliament, and in 1949 she was arrested and accused of preparing a coup against the communist government. In the political trial - one of the first ones which the communists arranged to get rid of their opponents - she was sentenced to death and executed by hanging on June 27th, 1950.
The memorial, standing on the lawn in front of Teplice employment office, is a wooden cross with metal portrait of Milada Horáková and a small plaque with her name and years of birth and death.
