Dolni Brežany is a village located just behind south borders of Prague. More then two centuries, a beautiful Baroque Cross had stood here in a village square. The original cross was made in 1717 by Ondrej Filip Qiutainer and in 1760 was the cross "reworked". During the two centuries was the cross very dilapidated. As it has been proclaied to part of the protected cultural heritage it was decided the the original will be stored in Lapidarium of National Museum in rague and in the village an exact replica will be commissioned and placed instead. It happened during 2009 and in December the cross was dedicated.
The statuary actually depicts the crucifixion with St Mary Magdalene kneeling at the foot of the cross. The whole statuary (both the original and the replica) was made from one piece of stone. Its height (without pedestal) is about 3.5 meter.
