This marker made of dark Quincy granite is dedicated to 100th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry and is in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. The unit was organized at Joliet, Illinois and mustered into Federal service on August 30, 1862. This is the one of four markers to 100th Illinois Infantry on the battlefield. It marks their location on Sunday, September 20th, 1863 at 11:00 A.M.

Short Physical Description

2'6" x 1'2" x 2'6" high rectangular slab of dark Quincy granite. Rock-faced sides; polished & inscribed front. "Illinois" is in large raised letters on beveled top. Marks unit's position at 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 20, 1863.
