This bridge carries the Oxford Canal towpath across the Rugby Wharf Arm. It was constructed during improvements to the Oxford Canal in 1831-34 and has slight C20th alterations. It is of a single span with a cambered deck made of prefabricated cast-iron plates. The haunches are inscribed with the name of the manufacturer, HORSELEY IRON WORKS. The openwork parapet is of moulded cast-iron railings forming a regular, attenuated diamond pattern. The solid brick abutments and trailing edge wing walls have engineering brick copings. The alterations were carried out with William Cubitt as consulting engineer.
