This 20 foot tall marble obelisk is located near the western entrance of the Woodlawn Cemetery. The area around the monument is marked by limestone corner stones and edging. The text of the monument reads:

Woodlawn Cemetery is a very historic cemetery, and has several locations of interest for the Civil War Buff. Along with this very nice monument, nearby is the burial place of Brigadier General John Taylor Hughes. There are also many gravestone of both Union and Confederate scattered throughout this Cemetery.
