This benchmark is way out in the woods along a hiking path dating back to 1935 and despite the bronze being oxidized green, is in terrific shape.

This will be the hardest benchmark for some people to find. First, you will have to go down a weird, dirt back road, passing by some really old farm houses, fields and other backwater town stuff. Turn off the main drag called River Road at N 40° 1.544 W 74° 59.094. Drive north, northwest on Taylor Road .44 miles until the road bends to the left or west, continue down another tenth of a miles (this is where the road gets a little dicey and is now dirt). There will be a dirt area to park on your left located at N 40° 1.748 W 74° 59.523. Get out, lock it up and walk down the dirt path until you get to the benchmark which is approximately .25 miles away as the crow flies. There is another monument next to it, rectangular, black for Hal Taylor of whom the road and park are named after. Both are 3 or so inches from the path. The area is heavily wooded but I got real lucky and hit coordinates with 30 foot accuracy so I am highly confident at my posted coordinates.

The benchmark reads: U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey Reference Mark, For Information Write to the Director Washington D.C., $25 Fine or Imprisonment for Disturbing this Mark. RMNO3 Wright 2 1935

The original documentation reads: DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 (EBR) STATION IS 2 MILES NE OF RIVERTON, ON WRIGHT POINT, ABOUT 1/4 MILE SW OF H.G. TAYLORS HOUSE, WHICH IS AT NW END OF TAYLORS LANE. NEAR HIGH WATER LINE ON A GRAVEL BEACH JUST OFF A 90 DEG BEND IN A LEVEE, 13.3 METERS W OF THE N-S SECTION OF THE LEVEE, 2.89 METERS S OF NEAR SIDE OF A GNARLED 24-INCH ASH TREE.
