The Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo, also known as Igreja do Castelo or even as Antiga Igreja Matriz da Lourinhã, is a Gothic style Church built in the 14th.
The Church is located in a place where the Arabs had built a castle. It is a true Gothic church, from the mid-fourteenth century. Its construction took place in two phases, the first was attributed to D. Jordan (the first donee of Lourinhã) and the second to D. Lourenço Vicente (Archbishop of Braga, a native of Lourinhã and his donee).
The church was declared a National Monument on the date of June 29, 1922.
