The town's website describes the Byers' and their involvement in the community as follows:

"From 1939-1969, Murray Byers operated Byers Drugs on Main Street, Stony Plain. The Byers were extremely involved in the community and their drugstore was more than just that. From giving away rabbits at Easter to supplying the local teens with the thickest milkshakes, the Byers touched the lives of everyone in the community."

The mural is of Murray Byers on the drug store side of the shop with Esme operating the soda shop side. The mural is likely a depiction of the shop with rabbits for sale in the middle, prescriptions, veterinary supplies, pocket books, etc. The mural with its vibrant colours looks as though you could step into the store.
