This arches stand at the south east end of Sicilian Avenue, a pedestrianised shopping street that runs between Kingsway and Vernon Place. The arches, designed by R J Worley for the Bedford Estate, are a decorative entrance to Sicilian Avenue and its style is similar to the buildings along the avenue.

The arches are supported by four columns that taper slightly towards the top. The whole unit is made from stone and was built c1910. The whole effect is to give the location a Roman feel.
Type: Gateway

Subtype: Sculpture

Location: End of a shopping street.
