This milestone is embedded in the Mayflower pub

This is a very interesting pub which dates back to the 16th century. It used to be called the Spreadeagle, but is now named after the ship chartered by the Pilgrim Fathers which left Rotherhithe, from this stretch of the river, for America in 1620.

The pub is clearly marked on 1875 town plan but the MS does not appear until the 1896 town plan, putting its date somewhere between these two years.
