CKGE-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 94.9 FM in Oshawa, Ontario. The station broadcasts an active rock format under the brand name 94.9 The Rock.

The station was launched in 1957 by Lakeland Broadcasting as FM 93.5 CKLB-FM, a sister station to AM outlet CKLB. The station aired an easy listening format. In 1966, the station changed its callsign to CKQS, and moved to its current frequency later the same year.

In 1979, CKLB and CKQS were acquired by Grant Broadcasting, and CKQS changed callsigns again, this time to CKQT. Grant Broadcasting was subsequently acquired by Power Broadcasting in 1990.
In 1993, the station moved to an adult contemporary format, adopting its current callsign and branding itself "The Edge". In 1995, the station was rebranded "Magic 94.9".

In 1999, the station began to more actively target audiences in Toronto, with a modern adult contemporary format incorporating into some more typically adult album alternative musical selections.

In 2000, Power Broadcasting was acquired by Corus Entertainment. Corus dropped Magic's format and brand, adding the station to its Energy FM dance music simulcast. However, in 2002, Corus' Hamilton stations swapped frequencies, and with Energy flagship CING now on a signal that more effectively covered the Toronto area, CKGE again became "Magic@94.9," with a hot adult contemporary format.

In 2003, Corus sold CKGE and CKDO to Durham Radio, the owner of CJKX in neighbouring Ajax. The station adopted its current format shortly after the sale. The station is noted in the Toronto area for its weekend freeform show hosted by David Marsden, the onetime program director of CFNY.




KX96 New Country FM
Airing at 95.9 FM, the station broadcasts a country music format branded as KX96.

The station was launched in 1967 as AM 1390 CHOO. The station was acquired in 1973 by Community Communications, and in 1977 by Golden West Broadcasting. In 1994, the station was acquired by its current owner, Durham Radio, and moved to its current FM frequency.




CKDO 1580AM
CKDO was launched in 1946 by T. W. Elliott, an executive with the Canadian division of General Motors. Its original frequency was 1240.

In 1950, Elliott sold the station to Lakeland Broadcasting, who adopted the new callsign CKLB. The station moved to AM 1350 in 1956. The following year, Lakeland launched an FM sister station, CKLB-FM.

In 1979, the stations were acquired by Grant Broadcasting, and CKLB adopted the new call sign CKAR. In 1990, Grant Broadcasting sold the stations to Power Broadcasting. In 1992, Power readopted the station's original CKDO calls and its current format. In 1996, the station moved to an adult contemporary format, sometimes simulcasting the programming of its FM sister station and other times airing its own distinct programming schedule.

In 2000, Corus Entertainment acquired the stations. In February 2001, Corus converted CKDO to its short-lived talk radio network (also consisting of CHML in Hamilton, CFPL in London, CKRU in Peterborough, CFFX in Kingston and CJOY in Guelph), but the station returned to the oldies format by the summer of that year.

In 2003, CKDO and CKGE were acquired by their current owner, Durham Radio. Durham established the FM rebroadcaster in 2005. The station had originally been approved by the CRTC in 2004, conditional on choosing a different frequency than 107.7, for which the station had originally applied.

On August 13, 2006, CKDO moved from AM 1350 to its current AM 1580: a Class A "clear channel" frequency.
