When NewSouth, Inc., a book publisher and its bookstore, moved into the old Montgomery Shoe Factory building, they kept the "Old Shoes Made New" neon sign on top.

The neon sign over the building in downtown Montgomery, Alabama, would suggest that shoe repair takes place at that location. Yet when one takes a closer look, there is no shoe replair place in sight. Instead there is the retail store of the NewSouth Publishing Company. As it turns out, when the NewSouth owners moved into the property, they decided to keep both the neon sign and the sign on the front wall left from Montgomery Shoe Factory. They did change the sign on front to Montgomery Book Factory. The store is across the street from a World War II Memorial and the federal courthouse. The neon sign does have some problems, but it certainly stands out. The web link is for the current building occupants.
