"The Downtown Farmer’s Garden is a collaborative effort between the County, not for profit groups, local business, and University. This partnership marks a commitment to creating and maintaining a healthy, vital, and resilient community.
The garden space was made possible by a generous grant from the Downtown Rotary Club. It serves as a living classroom for rainwater collection, composting, and organic gardening techniques. Fruit and vegetables grown at the garden are regularly given to local charities."

"Downtown Rotary donated $4,000 to fund the organic garden, which was constructed last July [2010]. The donation consisted of $2,000 in club funds and a $2,000 simplified grant from Rotary International.
The Downtown Farmer's Garden will provide fresh fruits and vegetables to needy families, as well as being a living lab for teaching youths and adults how to tend home gardens in order to put healthier, less expensive food on the home table."
