During the summer of 1927, the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Confederation was fittingly carried out. A committee appointed by the government in connection with the celebrations suggested a special issue of postage stamps to commemorate the occasion. The subjects of these commemorative stamps centred around the statesmen and the events they commemorated. The stamps were bilingual with the words "Postes" and "Post." The Parliament Buildings at Ottawa. The Centre Block of the Federal Parliament Buildings, situated on Parliament Hill, overlooks the Ottawa River. The building contains the House of Commons, the Senate, and parliamentary offices. The Peace Tower, dominating the building, contains the impressive Memorial Chamber which commemorates Canada's dead in two World Wars. At the rear of the building is the Parliamentary Library.
