This marker to the 8th Kansas Volunteer Infantry Regiment is located along a path just west of the split rail fence in the wooded area behind the Brotherton Field on the east side of Lafayette Rd in the Chickamauga National Military Park. (note: the access point is in the center of the field, south of this marker or from Dyer Rd).
This marker is dedicated to the
8th Kansas Volunteer Infantry Regiment, is in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marks the unit's position at 12:00 noon on September 20, 1863.

Short Physical Description
The marker is a simple, 6' high x 3' wide x 1.5' deep, granite obelisk inscribed on its face. It marks the regiment's position at 12:00 noon on September 20, 1863.
