This is a very particular anchor. It´s the gnomon of a sundial designed in a flowerbed. The anchor is the gnomon (pointer) and the grass is the dial plate.
The sundial was created in the 1940 for the "Exposição do Mundo Português" (Portuguese world exhibition). In the last years the grass was plain and there was no indications that could tell us the time of day. In the last year, local city hall in cooperation with the "Pavillion of Knowleage Live Science" (Science museum in Lisbon) replanted the grass and added diferent bushes creating traces in the dial and allowing anyone passing by to calculate the hours of day.
