Eglise Saint-Pierre, CAEN:
Remplaçant une église romane du XIIe siècle, l'église Saint-Pierre actuelle a été construite du XIIIe au XVIe siècle. Sa particularité est de conjuguer plusieurs styles d'architecture : le gothique rayonnant, le gothique flamboyant et le style Renaissance. Ainsi la façade occidentale (XIVe siècle) relève du gothique rayonnant, la balustrade du triforium est en gothique flamboyant (comme celle de Saint-Jean - à Caen également), tandis que l'abondance des sculptures en pierre des chapelles rayonnantes rappelle la Renaissance italienne. Autre point caractéristique : la nef se compose de deux parties construites à deux époques différentes (XIIIe et XIVe siècles).
En 1793, l'église Saint-Pierre est transformée en Temple de la Raison. En 1944, située dans un quartier durement touché par les bombardements anglais, l'église voit la flèche de son clocher et son toit détruits. Saint-Pierre fait l'objet d'un programme de restauration en 1952-1953.

Church of Saint-Peter, CAEN:
Replacing a Romanic church of the XIIth century, the church Saint-Peter current was built by the XIIIth in the XVIth century. Its peculiarity is to conjugate several styles of architecture: the radiant Gothic, the Flamboyant Gothic and the Renaissance style. So the western facade (XIVth century) recovers from the radiant Gothic, the balustrade of the triforium is in Flamboyant Gothic (as that of Saint Jean - in Caen also), whereas the abundance of the stone sculptures of radiating chapels calls back the Italian Renaissance. Other characteristic point: the nave consists of two parts built in two different periods (XIIIth and XIVth centuries).
In 1793, the church Saint-Peter is transformed into Temple of the Reason. In 1944, situated in a district hard touched by the english bombardments, the church sees the arrow of its bell tower and its roof destroyed. Saint-Peter is the object of a program of restoration in 1952-1953.
