Here's a display of a V2 engine, the rockets which were used by the Germans at the end of WWII.

The remnants now serve as a peace-monument.

A short translation of the nearby information board:
"Thousands of political prisoners were sent from the prison of Merksplas to Eperleques, the main launching site of V2s in France.

About 33 V-boms fell on Merksplas, of which 12 V2. They were responsible for ten deaths and ten wounded.

Let's assure this monument stands for 3 V's .. 'Vrede, Vrijheid en Verdraagzaamheid' (Peace, Freedom, Tolerance)."

The monument was inaugurated on the 19th of Sep 2009 at the commemoration of 65 years of liberation.
Location restrictions:
The monument is open to the public, a car park is nearby. No fees are asked.
