The so called New Church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity with 8.633 and 40.000 square meters is a work from the Greek Architect Alexandros Tombazis. It was inaugurated in the 12th Ouctober of 2007, in the 90th aniversary of Fatima visions.
It´s the 4th largest catholic temple in the world and was completely payed with the gifts of the pilgrims that visited the shrine over the years. The decoration is inspired in Bizantine and Ortodox . The design is circular outside and square inside. It has 12 side doors (one for each of Christ´s Apostles and one large central door, Christ´s door.

The book "Sanctuary of Fatima: Church of the Most Holy Trinity" is about this new building. A building that was completed in 2007, mostly for use at Sunday mass and where the challenge was to create a building that, despite its size, would blend unobtrusively into the historical site, offering the possibility to be used for other cultural or religious purposes too.
