The Strand Theater in the Enfield area of Thompsonville, opened in 1937. It has been closed since the late-1970’s. There is an organization called "Save Our Strand" that tried to renovate this classic theater. It seems to have suffered the fate of downtown theaters all over America.
There is a well done mural on the front of the theater; a reminder of the glory days of such theaters. On either side of the mural on the boarded up windows there are panels of well done artwork. The artist "HB" does display a considerable amount of artistic talent. Parts, in fact, bridge the gap between a mural art and graffiti; but I would classify it as graffiti since it does not convey a unified message, nor does it attempt to depict the subjects in perspective or depth.
