Sou como tu (I´m like you) is a work of the Portuguese artist Ruy Chafes.
This iron sculpture was donated to the City of Lisbon by PLMJ Foundatin (Law Firm - AM Pereira, Sáragga Leal, Oliveira Martins, Judice and Associates), to mark the forty years of activity of this society.
The piece was designed from the beginning thinking about the place where it turned out to be installed.
Rui Chafes developed this large-scale sculpture that emerges from the ground, merging into the garden where it was placed and therefore, combining with other elements of nature.
According to the artist, the sculpture resembles "a column of smoke, a cloud of steam, a foaming (...) It is to evoke an image of extreme lightness and transparency (...) This lightness takes place if (and simulates) in black iron: this apparent paradox arouses in the viewer the recognition of the doubt of the way of knowing the world '.
It was made in 2007-2008.
