This clock is mounted on the back wall of the Quartel do Carmo, GNR´s (National Guard) headquarters.
The quartel do carmo was built on part of the ruins of the Carmo Convent (that fell during the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake). The clock is mounted on the back wall, facing the Rossio Square, one of the most important squares of Lisbon. It´s dial is peculiar. It´s made of painted tiles with roman numerals painted blue, and, black pointers. The mechanism came from Morez du Jura in France.
