This 1688 bronze sculpture entitled La Dordogne depicts a woman laying down on her right side. A cloth casually drapes her waist. She holds a cherub by her left thigh. Water flows out of two basins below her right arm. The title indicates that this figure represents the Dordogne...a river that flows through south central France. There are similar works nearby representing other important rivers in France.
The artists are Balthasar Keller (1638-1702) and Antoine Coysevox (1610-1720).
