"The Ambassador" is a metal sculpture, about twenty feet high, of a figure which could be human, angelic, or spiritual with arms outstretched, facing west toward the nearby Pacific Ocean. It stands liie a sentinel sentinel near the Newport Performing Center for the Performing Arts which was also completed in 2005.

Sam Briseno, for the town of Toledo, Oregon, further north on the coast, has been noted for several decades as a metal sculptor whose works can be seen in many communities, and the Gallery Briseno in Toledo. (Note: At the time of this writing, the web site given on the plaque is not active).
